The Munich startup tacterion secured first place in this year's 'Forbes Start-Up Challenge'. The young company impressed the expert jury in Vienna.
Where are the most innovative and ambitious startups and young companies in the DACH region? — The German-language Forbes magazine wanted to find out, and launched the "Start-Up Challenge." For the third time, the organizers sought founders from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with a visionary product or outstanding technology.
30 nominees were able to participate in an online vote for their path to the finals of the 'Start-Up Challenge'. The finalists included the three startups that received the most votes in the voting process, as well as three additional startups selected by the expert jury. One of the finalists was tacterion present in Vienna.
Wide range of applications for sensors
The Munich startup — a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) — has set itself the task of bringing a flexible, tactile sensor technology to market that allows objects to feel like humans. The goal: With this technology, called 'SensorSkin,' it aims to make products more intelligent and contribute to new possibilities in human-machine interaction. And much more, as the founders explain. Daniel Strohmayer opposite Forbes said:
"Our SensorSkin was originally intended to equip robots and give them touch sensitivity like humans—but now this sensor technology has much broader applications: in the automotive industry, in consumer electronics—we don't classify ourselves in any specific segment."
As a prize, the Munich-based startup was delighted to receive a startup consulting package from EY Austria with a total value of 5,000 euros.
