Coworking giant WeWork is coming to Munich. Today, the company announced the opening of its fourth German location in the Bavarian capital. The opening is scheduled for summer 2018. It already has offices in Berlin, Hamburg, and Frankfurt.
WeWork is expanding its footprint and now offers office space in Munich. The new location is located at Oskar-von-Miller-Ring 20 in the former SiemensForum, close to Odeonsplatz.
With the expansion to Munich, WeWork aims to give members access to another significant German city. The company's concept is based, among other things, on being represented in key locations around the world and offering its customers the same standards everywhere. The state capital's growing reputation as a center of innovation, media, and technology was a factor in favor of locating in Munich.
Wybo Wijnbergen, General Manager WeWork Northern Europe, says:
"The ever-growing technology network and the resulting business opportunities make Munich a natural choice for our next location in Germany and a key hub for WeWork in Germany. We look forward to growing the WeWork community here and connecting Munich's companies and executives with our network of over 175,000 members worldwide."
Mayor Josef Schmid says:
"I'm delighted that one of the world's leading community spaces is gaining a foothold in Munich – in the former OSKAR building in a prime downtown location. Startups, entrepreneurs, and companies will find ideal conditions for creative collaboration and networking here."
Munich is currently the newest location in the European WeWork network, which currently comprises 26 locations. In total, over 26,000 members now work in offices in London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Amsterdam, and now also in Munich. Additional spaces are planned for Madrid and Barcelona. WeWork has 170 locations in 20 countries and 64 cities worldwide. The community already includes more than 175,000 members.
