Lion E-Mobility, the holding company of the Garching-based company Lion Smart, joins the Munich startup ParkHere with 200,000 euros.
ParkHere develops self-powered parking sensors. These are embedded in the ground and generate energy from the pressure of passing cars to wirelessly transmit information about their occupancy status. This means the system requires neither a power connection nor batteries. Via a web app, users can see which parking spaces are currently occupied and which are free. The startup's headquarters are located in commercial yard West End.
According to Lion E-Mobility, “competitors, including well-known companies, have already failed to develop an efficient parking space monitoring system in a pilot project.” The company further states:
"From LION's perspective, ParkHere is the market leader with this product concept, which is why LION E-Mobility AG has decided to invest in the company through convertible bonds worth €200,000. Furthermore, the investment will also enable us to leverage synergies with the Munich-based startup in the future."
ParkHere has already received awards
Only recently The Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies of Southern Bavaria (VDE) awarded the startup the VDE Award 2017. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Petra Friedrich, Chairwoman of VDE South Bavaria, said:
"This year, a young startup receives the VDE Award in the Business category. It impressed the jury with a particularly clever idea for a self-sufficient parking sensor. ParkHere has the potential for commercial success."
