The Munich-based startup Kewazo is among the finalists for the Klimahouse Startup Award 2018. Klimahouse is organizing the competition for the second time. This year, not only startups from Italy were eligible to apply, but companies from Germany and Austria also threw their hats into the ring. The final will take place on January 26 in Bolzano.
From the intelligent robot for scaffolding construction, developed by Kewazo, a practical plug&play photovoltaic storage system for the balcony from a spin-off of the Graz University of Technology to the 100% compostable building panels made of mushroom mesh from a young company in Varese, Italy, which can be used for floors as well as for heat and sound insulation, are the ten projects that will compete against each other in the final of the Klimahouse Startup Award on January 26, 2018 in Bolzano.
Creating a harmonious relationship between humans and nature
In keeping with the motto "Building in harmony with nature means living in harmony with nature," the Klimahouse Startup Award 2018 is reserved for innovative European startups that focus on the harmonious relationship between humans and nature through sustainable technologies in the areas of smart building, smart living, and smart cities. With the aim of giving new impetus to the green tech sector and providing concrete support to young companies on the market, the competition is being held as part of the Klimahouse Innovation Days will take place, an intensive four-day program dedicated to matchmaking between startups, investors and strategic business partners.
A total of 29 projects applied for participation. In mid-December 2017, an international jury of experts selected the winners. Among the experts on the jury were three incubators from Munich (MTZ, gate Garching and Xpreneurs) — the ten finalists of the award: E2T (Graz), Glass to Power (Milan), Innovacrete (Ancona), Kewazo (Munich), Mind (Modena), Mogu (Varese), Nathal Energy (Villach), Powahome (Rome), Ribes Tech (Milan), Ricehouse (Biella).
