Lechwerke distinguishes ParkHere

The Augsburg-based energy supplier Lechwerke is awarding the Munich-based sensor startup ParkHere the LEW Special Prize #smarteRegion.

The Lechwerke honor the Munich startup based in Westend Commercial Park for the use of smart technology for environmental protection. The award also takes into account the degree of innovation and the economic viability of the idea. The prize is endowed with 7,000 euros.

Founded in 2015, the company develops sensors that can detect whether a parking space is free or occupied. An algorithm analyzes the collected data and displays it via a dashboard or a web app. The system does not rely on a power source and does not require batteries, as it generates the required electricity from the cars driving past. The sensors are designed to run for more than 25 years without maintenance. The company already employs 25 people. Just in December, ParktHere received the VDE Award his last award.

ParkHere CEO Felix Harteneck says:

"It's great that more and more companies are realizing that our system offers so many benefits. If we install the system in employee parking lots, for example, not only are employees happier because they can find parking spaces more quickly, but the company can also manage its parking space better and more efficiently. At the same time, it contributes to climate protection."
