Premiere: FlixBus sends e-buses on their journey

FlixBus is investing in e-mobility. The Munich-based company is now the first company in the world to test e-buses in long-distance bus service. Starting in April, the first fully electric long-distance buses in France will begin trial operations on the route between Paris and Amiens.

The first electric long-distance bus in Germany will follow on a new route between Hesse and Baden-Württemberg starting in early summer as part of the current network expansion.

FlixBus co-founder André Schwämmlein says:

"We want to help shape the mobility of the future. While e-buses are currently significantly more expensive to purchase, we are convinced that this investment in the future is worthwhile. As a provider, we are sending a clear signal that the mobility transition is possible. At the same time, the first e-long-distance bus is a signal to bus manufacturers to drive innovation and develop alternatives to pure diesel propulsion. Sustainable mobility is now also a social concern."

Long-distance bus network is being expanded — FlixTrain is coming

FlixBus will continue to invest in network expansion in the coming months. In addition to international routes, around 140 new destinations will be added in German-speaking countries alone. André Schwämmlein:

"We are expanding our offerings across our core markets, particularly in rural areas and smaller towns that previously had no access to our services."

In addition, existing connections will be expanded and new tourist destinations will be added. On March 23, FlixTrain green long-distance trains for the first time.
