Six-figure financing round for Crashtest Security

The Munich-based startup Crashtest Security has received a mid-six-figure sum in seed financing. The IT security company intends to use the fresh capital primarily to strengthen its sales force.

The lead investor of the financing round is a family office from the BayStartUP Investor Network. Other donors include Dr. Thomas Dübendorfer, Past President of the Information Security Society Switzerland (ISSS), long-time cyber security lecturer at ETH Zurich and President of the Swiss ICT Investor Club (SICTIC), as well as other internet entrepreneurs such as Contovista founders Gian Reto à Porta and Nicolas Cepeda, Grünspar founders Gerrit Ellerwald and Sebastian Kotzwander, and Absolventa and DAA founder Pascal Tilgner.

Using artificial intelligence to combat hacker attacks

Crashtest Security offers web developers the opportunity to automated penetration tests during software development and to carry out in live operation.

Using artificial intelligence, the Crashtest Security Suite automatically detects vulnerabilities in web applications – whether they are already in production use or still in development. The technology thus increases protection against hacker attacks and creates better data security for companies, users, operators, and developers. The security scans are particularly suitable for SaaS providers and software agencies that develop web applications on behalf of clients.

Danger recognized, danger averted: Identify vulnerabilities quickly

"Thanks to Crashtest Security, I can now find even hard-to-detect vulnerabilities in websites much faster and more reliably. Anyone who wants to avoid a data leak on their website and potentially hefty fines due to the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which comes into force in May 2018, now has a professional tool to efficiently and automatically check their websites for security vulnerabilities after each update."

says investor Thomas Dübendorfer.

“The numerous customers prove the benefits”

“The experience of our new shareholders will help us a lot,”

says Crashtest Security co-founder and managing director Felix Brombacher.

“They have all already successfully sold SaaS solutions across Europe.”

They also know the business in which Crashtest Security operates well.

"The numerous customers demonstrate the benefits of the security software. The fact that it is operated as a service in the cloud increases scalability enormously,"

says Gerrit EllerwaldThis allows new customers to have their applications checked for security vulnerabilities immediately after registration.
