The Munich-based company Osram is investing in the Canadian startup Motorleaf. The investment complements its portfolio in the field of high-end greenhouse technology.
Osram is investing in Motorleaf through its venture arm Fluxunit. A total of $2.85 million was invested in the seed financing round by Fluxunit and other financial investors.
The Canadian startup specializes in artificial intelligence for greenhouse and indoor farming solutions. The Motorleaf solution uses AI to predict harvest yields in greenhouse operations. These forecasting tools are designed to help greenhouse operators fulfill their contractual obligations and improve their operational planning. Ulrich Eisele, Managing Director of Fluxunit, says:
“We see great potential in using the latest data analysis methods to further optimize yield and predictability in the cultivation process of commercial greenhouses.”
Osram is already involved in Agrilution
The Munich-based company already supplies lamps for plant cultivation. The lighting company is also since last year at the Munich greenhouse startup Agrilution involved. They are celebrating the investment on Facebook:
