The IoT Convention aimed to address a fear shared by SMEs: According to surveys, more than two-thirds of German SMEs fear implementing IoT projects within their own operations. This is despite the benefits, such as more efficient value creation and increased customer satisfaction, being demonstrated with good examples.
To illustrate the key criteria for a successful IoT project using concrete case studies and to support German SMEs in their digital transformation, the first IoT Convention took place in Garching in mid-June. The conference was organized by Cisco Systems and the Munich-based startup Juconn Solution organized.
IoT Convention: Showcasing the possibilities of Industry 4.0
More than 80 interested participants were guided through the entire process chain of an IoT project and received experience and advice based on real use cases – from the sensor, through security aspects, to the visualization of the data.
The compact program was complemented by guest contributions. Dr. Wittges, Managing Director Zentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern, spoke about the possibilities for project funding through public funds. Prof. Dr. Ing. Haddadin, Director of the Munich School of Robotics and recipient of the 2017 German Future Prize, outlined what the future of everyday robotics could look like. Breakout sessions provided ample time for individual discussions.
“We wanted to alleviate companies’ concerns about IOT / Industry 4.0 and help them harness the countless opportunities for their businesses,”
says Sven Dunker, CEO of Juconn Solution GmbH.
A survey of participants revealed that only a few (3.61) see difficulties in determining ROI, but issues such as security (19.11), complexity (17.51), and lack of resources (16.11) are causing headaches. IoT Ideas
