TUM Presidential Entrepreneurship Award 2018 for NavVis

The Presidential Entrepreneurship Award of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) goes to NavVisThe company develops applications for mapping interior spaces with centimeter precision and an app that enables navigation within the mapped spaces. The company was founded in 2013 and currently employs around 140 people in Munich and New York.

The users of NavVis can use their smartphones to quickly and easily find their way around complex buildings such as factories and exhibition halls, airports, train stations or shopping centers or experience entire exhibitions online.

To achieve this, the company digitizes interiors using mobile trolleys equipped with various cameras. The images are used to create photorealistic, centimeter-accurate 3D maps of buildings, which are supplemented by navigation software and interactive location-based services.

In the Presidential Entrepreneurship Award, NavVis prevailed against two competitors who also took advantage of the start-up consulting, qualification and research cooperation offered by TUM and UnternehmerTUM have used: ParkHere and Customized Drinks .
