Florian Huber from Munich was honored with the “Golden Nose 2018” by the Business Angels Network Germany (BAND) and named Business Angel of the Year.
The business angel was also inducted into the "BAND Heaven of Fame" gallery of honor. To be honored as Business Angel of the Year, the investor must propose their own investment startup. Kaia Health, Catchys, Mioments and Curing Shot from Munich and Artnight from Berlin nominated Huber for the prize.
Huber holds 25 startup investments
Florian Huber is the founder and CEO of the domain registrar united-domains. The company is now part of the 1&1 Group. A trained business lawyer, he is also co-founder of the real estate portal new building compass and has been an angel investor in German and US internet startups since 2007. His current portfolio includes more than 25 startups. Furthermore, the Business Angel of the Year has invested in two venture capital funds and operates the website chain.de, a directory of all German blockchain startups and investors. Huber is committed to structural improvements in the business angel ecosystem, including through his involvement in the development of a standard contract framework for business angels and startups. Huber lives with his family in the south of Munich.
The startups that nominated him praised Huber for being “always available with his extensive entrepreneurial experience and providing advice and support almost daily.” Konstantin Mehl, Co-Founder of Kaia Health Software and Foodora writes:
"Florian was our first angel investor in both Foodora and Kaia Health and supported us tremendously in overcoming the difficult start-up phase. Especially during Foodora's exit to Rocket Internet/Delivery Hero, we had a competent sparring partner at our side in Florian."
