They support companies in implementing artificial intelligence and develop customized deep learning solutions. They told us more about this in our 7 questions.
1. Who are you and what do you do? Please briefly introduce yourself and your company!
We are Timon Ruban (25) and Sebastian Schaal (26). We met during our master's studies at Stanford, where Timon specialized in deep learning and Sebastian focused on classical machine learning and management science. Unlike most of our classmates, we decided not to stay in Silicon Valley but to return to Germany to advance the development of artificial intelligence. That's why we founded Luminovo in December 2017.
We are committed to supporting German companies in implementing AI. To this end, we develop and integrate customized deep learning solutions and tools that directly generate value for our clients. We also help our clients understand the benefits of artificial intelligence and discover new potential applications.
We believe that the future of AI lies in hybrid solutions that combine the skills and strengths of humans and machines.

2. But that's been around for a long time!
Sure, there are already several companies dedicated to data science. We focus specifically on problems that require the use of deep learning. Our team can draw on a wealth of experience in this area.
Our primary goal is to help our clients get started in AI. Instead of selling black boxes and pure license fees, we share our code, documentation, and best practices with our clients and conduct workshops at the end of each project to explain our methods and procedures.
In addition, the structure of our hybrid solutions allows for a much more intuitive use of the system, which is characterized by high efficiency and reliability.

3. What are the three main ingredients for your recipe for success?
• We place great value on a strong and talented team and therefore invest heavily in the application process. All of our employees share our company values and bring passion and motivation.
● No matter how good the individual team members are, nothing will work without psychological safety and hard work.

4. Let’s get down to business: How is business going?
Since Luminovo was founded at the end of last year, we have managed to steadily and completely boost our team to nine employees. We recently expanded our offerings and now offer our customers workshops and proof-of-concepts in addition to deep learning solutions. We have also begun developing our hybrid platform. We already achieved six-figure revenue in the last quarter.

5. What does Munich mean to you?
Munich is a very advantageous location for us thanks to its excellent universities and companies. We were both born in Munich, and Sebastian spent a large part of his studies here. Therefore, in addition to friends and family, we have a very broad network in Munich. The Munich location also helps us in our search for employees, which "most livable city in the world"The incredible recreational value paired with the Bavarian cosiness is simply unique.
6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we see you soon at Epic Fail Night?
With our strong team and the projects we've already successfully completed, we hope to be no more than spectators at Epic Fail Night. However, whether we become a unicorn or move toward a solid boutique depends primarily on whether our product strategy performs as well as our project business.
7. Isar or English Garden?
Definitely the English Garden! Our current office on Giselastraße is just five minutes away. Plus, the surfer vibe reminds us of our time in California.
