Customer contact via Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp: Chatchamp is addressing one of the hottest topics in e-commerce with messenger marketing. After a multi-month trip to the Axel Springer Plug & Play Accelerator in Berlin last year, the team is back in Munich and answers our 7 questions.
1. Who are you and what do you do? Please briefly introduce yourself and your product!
Founded chatchamp At the beginning of 2017, Felix Belau, Dominik Grusemann, and Felix Schröder founded the company. Dominik and Felix B. both grew up in Unterschleißheim and have known each other since childhood. They both studied software engineering at TUM and have many years of professional experience in the field of artificial intelligence. Felix S. studied mechanical engineering at TU Munich and was most recently responsible for startup scouting in the areas of artificial intelligence, HMI, and digital innovations at Audi. The three then met a few years ago at a startup weekend (Startup Alm) and immediately made the firm decision to found a company together.
Chatchamp offers a software-as-a-service for messenger marketing that connects to the largest e-commerce platforms (including Magento, WooCommerce, Shopify) and CRMs, allowing businesses to build a completely new marketing and CRM channel via instant messengers (such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp).
The content, timing, and frequency of messages are continuously optimized, as chatchamp learns from user behavior both in the shop and in the chat, allowing it to always send the right message at the right time. This leads to significantly better conversions than previous channels. Chatchamp also automates campaign management and offers a comprehensive analytics tool.
Ultimately, the channel can be used for customer acquisition as well as for retargeting and long-term customer loyalty to the shop.

2. But that's been around for a long time!
A lot has indeed happened in the area of chat and chatbots in recent months. However, we have specialized heavily in the e-commerce sector. This allows us to offer a tailor-made solution for this vertical that precisely meets the needs of e-commerce companies. This starts with special engagement tools and extends to detailed analytics of sales generated through chats.
Our solution is completely without Integration effort is minimal, and results can be monitored and optimized from day one! This means, for example, that newsletter campaigns can be sent to customers very quickly via chat or specific personalized messages.
3. What has been your biggest challenge so far?
At the beginning of the year, we and our team moved back to Munich from Berlin. It wasn't an easy decision, but ultimately, we're very happy in Munich! Of course, there was a lot to do: a new office, lots of travel to Berlin, and a new network in Munich.
“Startup scene is very well developed”
4. Let’s get down to business: How is business going?
We can't complain; things are going very well for us right now! After moving back to Munich from Berlin, our office was already outsized after just five weeks, and we had to move. Our customers are already spread across the globe, as we also sell our product directly online, for example, throughout Europe, the USA, Brazil, and Australia.
We achieve up to 5% sales increases for our customers!
5. What does Munich mean to you?
After our time at Axel Springer in Berlin came to an end, we consciously decided to return to Munich, as we have a strong network here and can ultimately be even more productive thanks to the proximity to friends and contacts. Nevertheless, we still look back fondly on our time in Berlin! 🙂
Munich's startup scene is now very well developed and offers us everything we need. We've just launched our new meetup series "E-Commerce: Successful Growth Stories" to build a network in the e-commerce sector and bring together everyone interested. The response has been tremendous, and we'll now be organizing a monthly event, to which all Munich e-commerce professionals and agencies are, of course, welcome!
6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we see you soon at Epic Fail Night?
Maybe we'll see each other at Epic Fail Night, but we'll be in the audience then. 😉 I don't think anyone would disagree with us that conversations, whether via voice or chat, the This will naturally represent a new medium for customer communication. This will naturally also become the key channel for communication between customers and companies in the e-commerce sector. Our experiences so far have confirmed that we are on the right track, and we look forward to the coming years with chatchamp!
7. Fish on a stick or pork knuckle?
Grilled fish.
