DataLion founder on list of most influential data scientists

The AI consulting firm Cognilytica has published a top 50 list of the world's most influential data scientists. Munich-based DataLion founder Benedikt Köhler is the only researcher living in Germany to make the ranking.

Benedikt Köhler is the founder and CEO of the Munich-based company DataLion. The ranking also includes people such as Dr. Andreas Weigend, the former Chief Scientist of Amazon, Dr. DJ Patil, Chief Data Scientist of the White House under Barack Obama and later Chief Scientist at LinkedIn, as well as Prof. Sebastian Thrun of Stanford University and former Vice President at Google. Ron Schmelzer, Managing Director of Cognilytica, says:

"The criteria for inclusion in the list were the evaluation of contributions in the field of data science, the researchers' reach, and engagement within Twitter. The individual's influence within the research field was determined by the extent to which the individual's contributions were retweeted or shared and were groundbreaking in nature."

DataLion founder previously researched in Munich

Köhler received his doctorate in sociology from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In the 1990s, he developed social web features for Webmiles and founded an agency for mobile web applications. Between 2006 and 2009, he led a DFG-funded research project on statistical methods and visual communication at the Bundeswehr University in Munich. In 2014, he founded the software company DataLion.
