The team at OnPage.org stands for innovative tools for improving websites and is undoubtedly one of the superheroes of the Munich startup scene. While maintaining anonymity is a top priority for Batman and Co., in the state capital, everyone knows exactly who's hiding behind Captain OnPage's heroic blue and white cape:

Jan Hendrik Merlin Jacob, Marcus Tandler and Andreas Bruckschlögl (from left) are the managing directors of OnPage.org.

In August 2012, Marcus Tandler, Niels Dörje, Andreas Bruckschlögl, and Jan Hendrik Merlin Jacob founded the company OnPage.org. "We resisted it for a long time," admits Bruckschlögl, who, together with his colleagues, only wanted to use the analysis tool he had developed specifically for website optimization for their own use. "We asked ourselves why we should give others the same advantage that gave us a certain edge in the industry," Bruckschlögl continues. "But at some point, people practically forced us to do it."

Sometimes you just have to be forced into your luck. Although the tool was still completely unknown on the market at the time of its test release, the 100 beta accounts, each priced at €89, were a huge hit, selling out within the first 24 hours. In August 2012, OnPage.org went live with less than €2,000 in seed capital. Completely self-financed, the startup immediately turned a profit. After just five months, it had already signed up its 500th customer. The number now stands at 3,000, and rising sharply. Numerous awards followed, such as "Startup of the Year 2013" and "Founder Champion 2013." By June 2014, the company was ranked among the top 100 innovators in Germany.

Entrepreneurial spirit for cave dwellers

And there they sit, the founders of OnPage.org, completely relaxed on a couch in the "Cave," the cozy and rustic meeting room in the cellar vault beneath the company's offices, in the heart of Munich's city center. It smells old, but pleasantly old. It's as if you were about to indulge in a sophisticated wine tasting in the dimly lit room with its rock walls. The "Cave" has a very special atmosphere. Here, you can retreat and have undisturbed conversations; you immediately feel at ease and enjoy making yourself comfortable on the sofa. Simply cozy and ideal for entertaining guests.

One floor up, things are a bit more modern: In the offices, 40 young, open-minded employees sit at their computers, pounding away at the keys. Watching over them is Captain OnPage, the company's figurehead, in life-size. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, but it only just manages to disguise the fact that a lot of hard work is going on here. A few crates of beer are stacked in one corner, and a grill takes center stage in a quiet courtyard. You can practically feel the entrepreneurial spirit. But what makes the OnPage.org idea so special?

Professional quality management

The little server helps wherever it can. It warns of critical errors and clarifies anything unclear.
