Health check in just a few minutes — 7 questions for… Bodylabs

Bodylabs offers companies the opportunity to have their employees medically checked out. Both employers and employees benefit from this. Founders Sebastian Dünnebeil and Michael Theodossiou revealed exactly how this works in our 7 questions.

1. Who are you and what do you do? Please briefly introduce yourself and your startup!

Bodylabs GmbH was founded by Sebastian Dünnebeil (computer scientist) and Michael Theodossiou (insurance salesman). We came together in the Allianz incubator (Allianz X), although the idea originated in a previous venture by Sebastian.

We offer a comprehensive, fun health check in just 15 minutes. The results are evaluated in real time in our app and explained to the participant. The software creates a personalized prevention program based on the collected risk profile. Doctors advise participants in a subsequent video consultation and refine the prevention programs.

With each use, the app learns which preventive measures are well-received for customer profiles. Follow-up checkups demonstrate the effectiveness of the measures. Risk reduction can be monetized for a collective.

Bodylabs as an “employee benefit”

Our lab allows for the recording of 60 vital signs in just 15 minutes. It's mobile and can be operated by medically trained personnel in almost any location. The lab requires only about 10 square meters of space, making it ideal for use in companies or fitness centers. The product has medical device certification, and its data protection has been audited by TÜV.

Bodylabs currently offers the screening to employers. Up to 50% of employees participate, and the time commitment is minimal. The checkup achieves outstanding satisfaction ratings (100%). Serious problems are identified in 51-101 employees, who are then referred to the healthcare system.

The app allows employees' risk factors to be specifically addressed with digital programs without the employer exerting direct influence on the employees. Bodylabs is thus an "employee benefit" that saves employers money. Companies receive an aggregated report on employee health, but not health data on individual employees.
