The new Startup Monitor is here! In addition to Berlin, this year's startup association examined Munich, Hamburg, the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, and, for the first time, Stuttgart-Karlsruhe as startup clusters. Over 1,000 startup founders participated in the study this year. Here are some exciting findings from the study:
- Startup founders are optimistic about the future: 89.3% of founders are satisfied with the current business situation, and 76% expect an improvement in the next six months. Although their plans are somewhat more conservative than last year, this confidence also impacts their role as job generators. German startups create an average of 17.6 jobs, and in Berlin, even 27.7. They plan to hire eight new employees in the next twelve months – thus, almost 50,000 new jobs in the startup scene arise.
- 22% of startup employees are not German citizens, with the majority coming from the European Union (13.3%). With 33.7% of foreign employees, Berlin startups are the most international – Munich follows in second place with a share of 26.7 % foreign employees.
