Loewi wins award at ISPO

The Munich-based startup Loewi won the Tengfei Digital Award at the ISPO sports trade fair. The startup offers personalized nutrients based on blood tests.

The Munich-based startup pitched to a jury on the Academy Stage of the Munich sports trade fair ISPO and prevailed over the other finalists and their digital business ideas. The focus of the 2019 pitch competition was fitness apps. Several startups presented concepts designed to make workouts more effective or more entertaining for users via apps.

“A huge honor, we are totally happy”

However, the Munich startup Loewi, which pursues a different business idea: personalized nutrients optimally tailored to the needs of athletes. Users receive a home kit and send in a blood sample, which is analyzed in a sports medicine laboratory. They then receive optimized nutrition plans and tailored nutritional supplements. This allows existing deficiencies to be specifically compensated. This is intended to help athletes improve their health and individual performance. Co-founder Adrian Kapsalis said at the awards ceremony Ispo.com:

“A huge honor, we are totally happy.”

The trade fair is a milestone for the startup, which plans to launch its product into beta immediately after the event. Kapsalis counters potential privacy concerns, as his company processes highly personal data such as blood samples:
