Two Munich-based startups have been nominated for the Global Food Summit Award. Noyanum aims to reduce food waste in canteens and restaurants, and Agrilution brings vertical farming into the living room. The award will be presented as an audience choice at the Global Food Summit, which will take place on March 20 and 21 in Munich.
The Global Food Summit takes place this year in Munich and is dedicated to the question ‚Are cities changing our perception of food and nature?' Urban and vertical farming are practically commonplace, and things like algae production on building facades are on the verge of a breakthrough. These regionally and resource-efficiently produced foods are innovative and simultaneously fulfill the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. And: They are mostly produced by startups with disruptive approaches.
Munich startups with innovative ideas from foodtech
Munich startups from the foodtech sector include Agrilution and just Noyanum who want to reduce food waste in canteens and restaurants with their business model and a data-driven approach. With their respective approaches, both Noyanum and Agrilution landed among the finalists in the pitch for the 'Global Food Summit People's Choice Award' and aim to win the hearts of the audience at the congress. (Editor's note: Originally, only Noyanum was known as a finalist, now supplemented by Agrilution).
A large number of startups applied for the Global Food Summit Award, but only a small selection of seven startups from Canada, Israel, Russia, and Germany, including two from Bavaria, will now pitch. Overall, the Global Food Summit aims to provide space for disruptive business ideas in the areas of smart urban farming, circular systems, plant and animal data analytics, biotech, packaging, and 'new farm-to-consumer' marketplaces.
