Flixbus expands to Russia

After the launch in the USA Flixbus is now also heading for Russia: The Munich startup confirms according to Handelsblatt a report in the Russian daily newspaper Kommersant stating that Flixbus wants to enter the Russian long-distance bus market.

In addition to Western and Central Europe and the USA, Russia will soon be included on the Flixbus map. As a company spokesperson told Handelsblatt confirmed, the mobility company is preparing to expand into the Russian market:

“We can confirm that we are in an early phase of building our business.”

All roads lead to Moscow

Moscow will serve as the hub. From there, larger cities within a 300-500 kilometer radius can be reached. Flixbus is expected to generate significant demand here, as the corresponding bus routes are heavily used by commuters and suitable rail connections are lacking.

When exactly the Munich-based startup plans to enter the Russian bus market remains open. The company denies reports that Flixbus will begin operations as early as February 21. An exact date has not yet been determined.
