Wanted: Women with an entrepreneurial spirit! This year, the Albert & Edda Darboven Foundation is once again seeking young female entrepreneurs to apply for the Darboven IDEA Award. The award, which offers €65,000 in prize money, recognizes innovative business ideas with viable business concepts.
You can't be what you can't see — to create and promote positive examples, the Darboven Idea Prize Female founders with innovative business ideas are emerging. In Germany, significantly fewer women than men still start businesses. The reasons for this are varied: a lower proportion of women in engineering, a lack of female role models, inadequate support programs, and a generally negative perception of their own entrepreneurial opportunities.
Criteria & Prize Money
To change this—and to highlight female role models—the Darboven Idea Award recognizes female founders whose business ideas and concepts are compelling. The jury also considers the founders' personal commitment and the number of new jobs created or expected to be created.
The award provides a total of 65,000 euros in prize money: the first prize is worth 50,000 euros, the second prize 10,000 euros and the third prize 5,000 euros.

Interested founders can now apply onlineThe application period runs until July 31, 2019. Eligible to participate are female start-ups and young entrepreneurs who have been self-employed for no more than three years. Registration in the commercial register will be reviewed. The jury also verifies that the entrepreneurial idea originated with the applicant without a male background.
