The World Food Programme (WFP) is still looking for startups that want to enter the race for the #zerohunger Mission with innovative solutions to global hunger. Applications can be submitted online until February 28.
The Global Innovation Challenge for Zero Hunger is seeking ideas that can improve the lives of smallholder farmers and significantly transform the food production chain. From mobile applications to AI solutions—everything is welcome. The WFP Challenge is looking for high-tech solutions, but innovative business models are also welcome. Application deadline is February 28.
The selected teams will then have the opportunity to participate in a bootcamp from May 13-17 at WFP Innovation Accelerator in Munich to further develop their ideas or business models together with experts. The possibility of obtaining financing is also on the table.
Together against hunger
David Beasley, Executive Director of WFP, on the motivation for launching the #zerohunger Mission:
"The world is never going to be fully at peace without ending hunger. It is a critical problem for every organization with a global interest, no matter what sector. We will never address this problem and solve it by the United Nations alone, nor by governments alone. The only way we will solve this is by the private sector being integrally engaged and involved. This is why we need to step it up to another level and be even more creative and innovative together."
