“Plan everything in advance” – Crowdfunding tips from Chocolatehoch3

Chocolatehoch3 demonstrates how chocolate and 3D printing can be innovatively combined. Master confectioner Benedikt Daschner uses specially developed 3D printers to create custom-shaped chocolate. His startup began with a crowdfunding campaign. In this interview, you'll learn how he benefited from the campaign, what tips he has for other project starters, and what's coming up next.

In many crowdfunding campaigns, market testing or marketing are the main focus, in addition to financing. How was that for you, Benedikt?

We were regularly told that we shouldn't expect much money to be left over. Ultimately, the most exciting thing was the advertising effect and the resulting 'feeling for the customer'. Nevertheless, Chocolatehoch3 A few euros were left over. Besides, the video, images, and text aren't lost afterward.

“Take whatever advice you get!”

How did you prepare for the campaign and where did you find good support?

The innovative master confectioner Benedikt Daschner, founder of Chocolatehoch3.

Anyone who knows another funder should definitely follow this guide. In my opinion, nothing can replace the experience of running your own campaign! Crowdfunding breakfast For us it was above all a source of motivation, a place to make contacts and a brilliant source of inspiration.

Take whatever advice you can get! If you hear something often, there's usually something to it (even if you think you know better). And in the end, just do what works for you!

“Plan everything in advance”

What was the most helpful tip you received while preparing the campaign?

Plan everything in advance. I didn't want to believe it either, but it's actually much easier if, for example, your Facebook posts are already drafted and you know in advance when something will appear where.

What advice would you give to other founders who are considering launching a crowdfunding campaign?

Do it! Even if you don't reach your funding goal, you'll find in the end that it was worth it.

How could you get through the Crowdfunding support from the City of Munich benefit?

Thanks to the funding, we were able to produce a professional video, for which we continue to receive a lot of praise. Otherwise, we certainly would have saved money here. The special—and truly ingenious—thing is that you receive the money upfront. So, for once, you don't have to resort to interim financing, giving you the opportunity to really achieve something even with a limited budget.

Will Chocolatehoch3 soon have 3D printers?

What lasting effects did the campaign have? And what's next for you?

Customers are still becoming aware of us through the crowdfunding page, and a successful campaign is also receiving a lot of attention in general communications. We're currently expanding and developing our marketing efforts. The plan is to be able to sell the printer by the end of the year—perhaps with another crowdfunding campaign?
