Brabbler takes over Simsme from Deutsche Post

Brabbler has acquired the messenger app Simsme from Deutsche Post. At the same time, Deutsche Post is becoming a shareholder in the Munich-based company.

Babbler operates the encrypted communications platform Ginlo. The messenger is available in two versions for private and business customers. Hosting is handled via German data centers. The Munich startup is backed by GMX founders Karsten Schramm, Peter Köhnkow, Eric Dolatre, and Jörg Sellmann.

“We are very much looking forward to bringing together the best of both product worlds and leveraging synergies to further develop digital communication solutions without side effects “Made in Germany”,

says CEO Eric Dolatre.

“Deutsche Post and our company share a common vision in digital communication: to ensure privacy for private individuals and confidentiality for companies.”

“Demand is increasing, especially among business customers”

Marco Hauprich, Senior Vice President Digital Labs at Deutsche Post, is responsible for Simsme. He says:

"We are selling Simsme at a time when demand is increasing, especially among business customers, and development capacities therefore need to be significantly expanded. Brabbler AG, with its expertise in digital communications, a competent development team, and extensive experience in selling digital services, is exactly the right partner to take our successful product to the next level."

Post joins Brabbler

Deutsche Post itself is planning a further rollout of the Simsme business version within its own group and is becoming a shareholder in Brabbler. Jörg Sellmann, CFO at Brabbler, says:

"We are delighted by the trust Deutsche Post has placed in us. As Europe's largest postal and communications service provider, a strategic partner of this size is a true asset. Deutsche Post will support the development as a shareholder of Brabbler AG and continue to provide its expertise."

Both parties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
