The Federal Environment Ministry and the Federation of German Industries are awarding their own prize to innovative climate- and environmentally-friendly solutions. Applications are open until June 28, 2019.
The prize awards a total of €175,000 for innovative climate- and environmentally friendly processes, products, and services, as well as technology transfer solutions for emerging and developing countries. Sustainable solutions for biodiversity and the special "Digital Transformation" prize are also being sought. All German companies and research institutions can apply for the prize, which is now in its seventh year. Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze says:
"In environmental and climate protection and for the preservation of biodiversity, we need the combined technical and creative potential of companies and research institutions. I therefore encourage all stakeholders to apply for the 2020 Climate and Environment Innovation Award and am excited to see this year's proposals."
“Innovation Prize for Climate and Environment Offers New Opportunities”
Effective climate and resource protection can only be achieved, according to BDI President Dieter Kempfwhen the innovative strength of companies is in line with the research drive of science.
"A signal to promote innovation in Germany is urgently needed to secure competitiveness, prosperity, and jobs. The introduction of tax-based research incentives, regardless of company size, is an important first step. The call for proposals for the Climate and Environment Innovation Award offers new opportunities to strengthen the pioneering role of German industry in innovative environmental and climate protection technologies."
The winners of the seven award categories will be honored at the awards ceremony in March 2020 and will each receive a personal award and prize money of 25,000 euros.
