Two architects, a mechanical engineer, and an electrical engineer—and you have Levaru. The Munich-based startup is working on making elevator installations faster and more cost-effective. The four founders reveal exactly what they're planning to do in our 7 questions.
1. Who are you and what do you do?
Levaru develops digital technologies for precision work in elevator construction. During elevator installation, the guide rails along which the car travels must be adjusted to a precision of fractions of a millimeter. This is currently done manually and often takes more than a week for a high-rise shaft. Furthermore, quality cannot be guaranteed, which is why elevators often begin to jerk during travel.
Our digital assistance device not only ensures the work is carried out correctly, but also significantly accelerates the installation process. This saves money and results in a quiet, low-maintenance elevator.
Our four-person team consists of the two initiators Julian Trummer (24) and Wolfram Meiner (25), who developed the concept at the Faculty of architecture at the Technical University of Munich. Swagat Chopra (32), electrical engineer and computer vision expert, along with mechanical engineer Heitor Gartner (23), completed the team in summer 2018.
Compact and intuitive solution
2. But that's been around for a long time!
Of course, but these are complicated, error-prone, and require laborious manual configuration. Our compact solution is intuitive, fast, and can also guarantee the quality of the work.
3. What has been your biggest challenge so far
Perhaps one of our small weaknesses is the fact that we are a very technically savvy team and therefore tend to get lost in details.
But generally we look forward to new challenges because they bring the team together and you learn an incredible amount from the experience.
4. Let’s get down to business: How is business going?
Since we're currently in the product development phase, there are few concrete figures yet. However, we're planning a flexible business model that addresses the global elevator market and encompasses approximately one million new installations per year.
Munich ideal location for Levaru
5. What does Munich mean to you?
Although we come from a variety of regions around the world, Munich has become our home. The network surrounding the Technical University of Munich and a wide range of suppliers, investors, and customers make the city an ideal location for us.
6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we see you soon at Epic Fail Night?
While both sound exciting, we'd obviously prefer the first option. We're certainly excited to see what the future holds!
7. Isar or English Garden?
Why not both? On a beautiful afternoon, you can easily combine the two, ideally with a short bike ride!
