At the "Start-up competition – Digital innovations“ in Berlin, a total of six startups received a main prize. Among them was the Munich startup Ebenbuild.

Every year the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is holding two rounds of the "Start-up Competition - Digital Innovations." A jury of experts from science and industry will award six start-up ideas with main prizes of €32,000 each. A special prize, each with a different theme, is endowed with €10,000. Fifteen additional ideas will receive €7,000. In addition, all participants will receive a written expert opinion on their submitted topic.

“AI made in Germany is already a reality in many ways”

The Munich-based startup Ebenbuild has developed software that uses artificial intelligence and computed tomography (CT) images to create a virtual, patient-specific lung model. This software is intended to enable automated, personalized, and precise prediction of optimal ventilation parameters, thus optimizing the treatment of ventilated patients. For this achievement, the startup has now been recognized with a top prize in the "Start-up Competition - Digital Innovations." Core Sensing Technologies and QuantiCor from Darmstadt, as well as the Berlin-based startups Dive Solutions, Mediaire, and KI Protect, were also honored with the "Artificial Intelligence" special award.

Oliver Wittke, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy:

"The award-winning teams demonstrate that you don't have to travel to Silicon Valley for groundbreaking digital ideas: AI made in Germany is already a reality in many areas. One important application area is the healthcare sector. The use of AI can individualize and perfect medical analyses and evaluations. Treatments can be refined. It is these kinds of creative and highly technical ideas that the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy supports with the 'Start-up Competition - Digital Innovations'. We effectively support the founders on their path to self-employment. The competition thus makes an important contribution to the future of our economy."
