Together with the Hans Weisser Foundation, the German Academic Scholarship Foundation offers the first funding program aimed at future entrepreneurs. Funding is available to anyone with compelling plans for developing a product or business idea or who wants to deepen their entrepreneurial know-how through a study visit.
Take off to become a startup
The Hans Weisser Scholarship is the first to focus on the further development of a business idea and the personality of the founder. The program is also open to applicants who have not previously received funding from the foundation. The program offers two funding lines:
Conveyor lines
- Support for individual research and project development phases at universities abroad
- Support for study stays abroad to acquire the necessary business skills to subsequently implement the business idea in Germany (e.g., an MBA degree)
The scholarships
€1,500 per month, for a period of six months to two years, depending on the project – plus travel expenses, entry fees, generous fee funding, and supplements for partners/children.
Requirements for application
- first professional or start-up experience
- a very good university degree (at least Bachelor’s degree – all subjects)
- Age at the time of application maximum 35 years
- a convincing development or study project at a university abroad

- The application deadline is December 1, 2015
- Pre-selection based on written documents
- Invitation to the selection seminar on 20 February 2016 in Hamburg (20 finalists)
- Funding starts in summer/autumn 2016
