A total of five founders qualified for the exciting finals of the Startup Munich 2019 ideas competition and pitched their innovative ideas to the participants. Fyndery, Mealion, Mitfamilie, Beyond Travel, and Palleb advanced to the finals.
Fyndery offers a hand-picked selection of coaches for food and sports on its platform. The founder of Palleb, Elisabeth-Anna Trifas, wants to create digital solutions for communication in palliative care. The founding team of Mealion in turn, wants to connect students in the cafeteria via its matching platform. Another networking and information platform fellow family created.
Who did best in the ideas competition at Startup Munich?
Immediately after the pitches, the audience acted as a jury to select the three winners:
51% chose Fyndery, the food and sports coaches; 41% chose Palleb, with its digitalization idea for palliative care; and 35% chose Mealion and its matching platform for students. Beyond Travel and Mitfamilie came in close behind.
The top three winners were honored and received coaching vouchers and other gifts from the Startup Munich partners. A total of 20 founders submitted their ideas for the Startup Munich pitch. Ten of these were selected by a jury of experts for the second round and invited to the Hearthouse. There, five ideas prevailed and qualified for the finals and the Startup Munich pitch.
The 'Startup Munich' event series takes place annually in May and June and offers founders information on all the steps they need to take during their startup. It also offers tips and testimonials from successful startups. A new addition a few years ago was the popular opportunity to present one's own idea in a pitch to an audience.
