Prosiebensat.1 invests in Holodeck VR

The Munich-based media group Prosiebensat.1 is investing a single-digit million amount in the pioneer of location-based virtual reality experiences, Holodeck VRIn return, the media group now holds 20 percent of the startup's shares.

The virtual reality startup Holodeck VR works with a Fraunhofer ISS Developed by the company, this localization technology enables free movement and interaction in virtual worlds. Thanks to it, groups of up to twenty people can experience VR in theme parks, festivals, shopping centers, as well as at private or corporate events, etc. All participants are equipped with the appropriate VR headsets.

With the investment, Holodeck VR now plans to expand its open content platform. Furthermore, the network of locations is to be expanded from the current seven to 350 by 2022. Furthermore, thanks to ProSiebenSat.1, the startup will be able to rely on numerous strategically viable distribution channels in the future. For example, with the "Jochen Schweizer myday Group," the media company Holodeck VR offers the opportunity to offer its product in activity and leisure parks.
