Samsung is looking together with SEND (Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany) and the Federal Association of German Startups within the framework of the Startup competition "Life's a Pitch" is for sustainable ideas and solutions in three categories. The deadline for applications is July 23.
Under the broad overarching theme of "Sustainability," startups can submit ideas in the categories "Environment/Climate Protection," "Life/Health at Higher Age," and "Inclusion/Accessibility." Five startups will be selected from each category and will then have the opportunity to present their ideas live to a panel of experts. The pitch contest for "Environment/Climate Protection" will take place in Munich, while the competition for "Inclusion/Accessibility" will take place in Berlin. The five best startups in the "Life/Health at Higher Age" category will pitch in Frankfurt am Main.
How to apply
Young companies that have been in existence for less than five years, are headquartered in Germany, and are growth-oriented are eligible to apply. Furthermore, startups must present a finished product or a developed idea that offers clear added value for the end consumer and fits the stated topic. The “Life's a Pitch” final will take place at IFA Next in Berlin
The three winners of the pitch competitions will each receive €10,000 in prize money, three Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets, three Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones, and three monitors. They will also receive six months of expert support. The startups that place second or third in the city contests won't go away empty-handed either. They, too, will be equipped with the latest Samsung technology.
The three winners will also have the opportunity to pitch their concepts to an interested audience at IFA Next, the innovation platform of the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin, on September 7, 2019. This audience will include investors, academics, and representatives from international companies. The startup with the best pitch will win €25,000.
Aim of the competition
With the competition, Samsung, SEND and the Federal Association of German Startups want to support the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030. Steffen Ganders, Director of Corporate Affairs at Samsung, formulates the purpose of the competition as follows:
"Our goal is to work with young entrepreneurs, SEND, and the Federal Association of German Startups to find answers to the challenges of our time. These include environmental concerns as well as social participation and social interaction."
