Flixmobility recently announced Financing Round F The Munich-based mobility company announced that it has secured additional investments from Baillie Gifford, Luxor, Odyssey 44, and the Blackrock fund and client mandates.
At the beginning of the month, the financing round was completed by the new partnerships with TCV and Permira as well as a joint co-investment by long-time investor HV Holtzbrinck Ventures and the European Investment Bank. Flixmobility raised a total of half a billion euros in this round. The fresh capital will be used to expand the bus network worldwide and launch the car-sharing service "Flixcar." The ride-sharing platform is scheduled to launch in 2020.
Green mobility worldwide
“We are delighted that so many top-class investors are supporting us in inspiring even more people to embrace sustainable and smart mobility,”
thinks Jochen Engert, founder and managing director of Flixmobility.
"With the support of Baillie Gifford, Luxor Capital Group, Odyssey 44, and the funds and client mandates managed by Blackrock, we are ideally positioned to realize our vision: In just six years, we have grown from a German startup to the European market leader. Now it's time to make green mobility available to people around the globe."
“Flixcar is the next logical step”
The new mobility service Flixcar will be integrated into the existing offerings of Flixbus and Flixtrain. This service will allow drivers to offer free spaces in their cars on a specific route. Flixcar is currently planned as a free service.
“From the very beginning, we have seen and positioned ourselves not as a bus or transport company, but as a mobility provider: We offer smart, affordable and climate-friendly travel, whether with Flixbus, Flixtrain or — soon — with Flixcar,"
continues Engert.
"Flixcar is a logical next step to expand our network and product offerings, giving even more people the opportunity to travel and experience the world. On average, a car carries only 1.5 people. Ridesharing is a great way to share fuel costs and reduce our impact on the climate."
