As part of a pre-seed financing, Cliniserve among other things Bavaria Capital and Plug and Play as investors. The digital health startup develops solutions to digitize procedures and processes in inpatient care. This is intended to simplify the daily work of nursing staff and give them more time for personal patient care.
In addition to Bayern Kapital, the American investment fund Plug and Play and business angel investors Martin Giese, Ingo Griebl, and Markus Struppe are participating in this financing round. Cliniserve intends to use the fresh capital to develop new software modules and expand its market position. The amount of the financing was not disclosed.
Goal: To develop an operating system for nursing work
Over a year ago, the Munich-based startup launched its first product: an app that allows patients to communicate their concerns directly to hospital staff via their smartphones. This is intended to avoid unnecessary work interruptions and travel, and service-oriented concerns can be delegated directly to the appropriate staff.
Cliniserve has already impressed 13 hospitals in Germany and Austria with this solution. Cliniserve is working with these hospitals to relieve nursing staff of non-specialist tasks and thus achieve better work structure. The goal is to transform Cliniserve into an operating system for nursing work, through which all processes are controlled.
“Healthcare industry faces a number of challenges”
Julian Nast-Kolb, one of the founders and CEO of Cliniserve, says:
"According to studies, nurses spend only 15 percent of their time on direct patient care—the work they were trained to do and that they find fulfilling. The remaining time is spent on tasks that could be delegated or automated. With our technology, we want to make a significant contribution to enabling nurses to focus on their core activities and have more time for their patients. For hospitals and care facilities, this means more efficient processes and better patient care. Therefore, our solutions can help alleviate staffing shortages in nursing."
Dr. Georg Ried, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital, continues:
"The healthcare industry faces a number of challenges – such as the efficient deployment of staff – that can be solved through digital innovations. We therefore see considerable potential in the field of digital health for the coming years. What convinced us about Cliniserve was that the founding team has developed sophisticated software solutions that are equally intuitive for patients and staff, enable significant improvements in hospital operations, and thus bring measurable efficiency gains. This ultimately benefits everyone involved: patients, staff, and hospitals."
