Congratulations to ComfyLight AG: Their first product, a home security system, has been honored with a CES Innovation Award. However, the ComfyLight system, which consists of a smart light bulb and a smartphone app, had to pass the judgment of a distinguished jury of independent industrial designers, engineers, and representatives of the trade media.
The ComfyLight is a new home security system consisting of a smart light bulb and a smartphone app. What makes this system unique is that it offers triple security with just one device: The ComfyLight uses a realistic light-based presence simulation to fool burglars into thinking someone is at home. It also detects unwanted intruders, alerts the user via smartphone, and deters intruders with a flashing light.
In addition to its triple security feature, the ComfyLight is characterized by its simple installation (replace incandescent bulbs with ComfyLights, install the app, connect the ComfyLight to the Wi-Fi) and user-friendliness. Comfy, a young startup, is behind the ComfyLight. We have recently successfully completed a field test with 55 participants, and the ComfyLight will be available for pre-order on Kickstarter in winter 2015/2016.
