The German Startup Association will present the German Startup Awards for the first time in 2020. The association aims to honor the personalities behind successful startups. Register by January 10, 2020. nominate.
On March 5, 2020, the German Startup Association will present the German Startup Awards for the first time in Berlin. The organizers have secured Chancellor Angela Merkel as the prominent keynote speaker.
Franziska Teubert, Managing Director of the Startup Association, explains:
"Behind every successful startup is not only an innovative idea, but above all strong personalities. [...] They are the ones who make the startup ecosystem in Germany one of the most exciting in the world. With the German Startup Awards, we honor these outstanding individuals and give them the stage and the recognition they deserve."
The different categories of the German Startup Awards
The association honors the best founders, investors, supporters of the German startup ecosystem, newcomers and social entrepreneurs in various categories.
The general criteria for nomination are as follows:
- Startups are younger than ten years,
- have a (planned) employee/sales growth and/or
- are (highly) innovative in their products/services, business models and/or technologies.
There are additional criteria for the individual categories, such as for the best founder:
- The nominated person must have founded at least one successful German startup according to the above criteria.
- The nominee inspires others and is particularly innovative, committed, and characterized by a high level of perseverance. During their entrepreneurial journey, they have overcome several challenges and emerged stronger from them.
The nomination and the process
Nominations are possible here until January 10th. You can be nominated by your customers, investors, business partners, or other supporters. You can also nominate yourself.
A jury will then select the top three in each category and inform the nominees. The awards will be presented on March 5 by the investor, among others. Frank Thelen and goalkeeper legend and investor Jens Lehmann.
