The Munich-based virtual heart clinic Iatros raised €2 million in seed financing. In addition to several business angels, Bayern Kapital and the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) also participated.
With its telemedicine solution, the Digital Health The startup Iatros offers data-driven treatment for cardiology patients. To this end, the startup has developed an app that creates a continuous connection between doctor and patient. This includes digital health plans as well as the integration of mobile health sensors, such as those on smartphones or Apple Watches. The app continuously records patient health data and, with the help of artificial intelligence, supports the doctor in diagnostics, medication planning, and automated notifications. This provides heart patients with professional support and reminders about measurements or medication intake. The app also offers patients the opportunity to self-assess their health status. In emergencies, they can also contact a telecardiologist 24/7 at the touch of a button.
Iatros was founded in 2019 by two heart specialists, Alexander Leber and Georges von Degenfeld, along with Patrick Palacin, Wolfram Winter, and Jens Schäfer. Their solution addresses one of the largest areas of the German healthcare system: Cardiology accounts for approximately 16 percent of total healthcare costs in Germany. Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death, accounting for 39 percent of all cases. Furthermore, around 1.7 million patients are treated as inpatients for cardiovascular diseases in this country each year.
