Fütürize: “Vision of a democracy actively shaped by citizens”

As part of the Digital Product School A student team is developing an AI-based citizen participation portal. Fütürize aims to create a direct communication channel between city administration, politicians, and citizens.

The portal is designed to enable citizens to interact directly with the city administration. The data will be pre-sorted, summarized, and prioritized for the administration using algorithms. This will enable administrative staff and politicians to gain an authentic picture of the mood in the city, make strategic decisions, and respond to the urgent needs of citizens.

“We have the vision of a democracy that is actively shaped by citizens,”

says product manager Martina Price by Fütürize.

“Municipalities would like to provide their citizens with convenient communication channels, but they are afraid of the flood of information that could be inundated.”

Fütürize portal should work in both directions

The platform informs citizens in real time about the status of their feedback. They also learn whether their request will be added to a larger pool for evaluation or forwarded directly to the appropriate department. Tests have already shown that users are patient as long as they can see the status of their input at any time.

The platform is intended to work in both directions: The city administration also has the opportunity to reach its citizens regardless of demographics and origin. For example, residents can be surveyed specifically about a specific construction project. Citizens themselves can decide whether to submit their input using their name or anonymously. All data is anonymized in analyses for the city administration.
