EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator starts first batch

EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The accelerator supports startups working on positive changes in the way people move around cities. Registration for the first batch is open until May 31st.

The EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator is an EU-funded program to take early-stage mobility startups to the next level. It seeks early-stage startup teams with business ideas that reduce congestion and increase the efficiency of the transport system. These include innovative approaches that make commuting faster or more pleasant, as well as concepts to accelerate the transition to low- or zero-emission modes of transport.

Upon application, startups are assigned to one of five European Innovation Hubs based on their headquarters. For Munich, this is Innovation Hub Central, whose main partner UnternehmerTUM Other partners include the Technical University of Munich, ENEA in Rome, Polihub in Milan, and ISBAK in Istanbul. German startups can also choose the North Hub (with partners in Finland and Sweden) or East Hub (with partners in Budapest, Prague, Leipzig, and Israel).

What awaits the startups?

The startups selected for the program will receive business coaching and training throughout the six-month program, mentoring from industry experts and experienced founders, the opportunity to validate their technology and market, and access to their first customers. They will also have access to the local ecosystem and infrastructure to promote growth and internationalization. They will also receive €15,000 in equity-free funding, and in some locations, the opportunity to use free office space for the duration of the program.

Application for the EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator

The Innovation Hub Central program will launch in July 2020. Applications are open until May 31. Teams must consist of more than one founder who pursues the activity full-time. The startup should not have received more than €1 million in revenue and investments to date. Online applications Up to 12 startups will be selected to pitch to a jury in their region. From these, the program participants will then be selected.
