Together with its parent company Telefónica, the Innovation Hub Wayra has launched a new activation program for startups. It focuses particularly on the technology areas of the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, big data, and artificial intelligence. Applications for participation in the program are open until June 22nd.
For the duration of the six-month program, the startups will receive access to the API interfaces of Telefónica's various platforms for their development work. In addition, concrete pilot projects involving Telefónica's corporate customer portfolio will be developed with the young companies. Wayra will supervise and support the startups during this time, and an analysis will be conducted to evaluate investment opportunities.
“With the program, founders gain access to Telefónica’s extensive technology portfolio,”
so Florian Bogenschütz, CEO of Wayra Germany.
"This provides startups with a unique opportunity to robustly test their solutions in a global infrastructure. They also have the chance to win Telefónica as a customer and thus establish their own solution on the market for the long term."
The application portal is open until June 22nd.
The three categories of the Wayra program
Companies selected in the IoT category will receive six months of access to Kite, an IoT connectivity platform developed by Telefónica, which allows startups to manage their own solution in an integrated manner. They will also have the opportunity to request LPWA (Low Power Wide Area Network) connectivity, a technology for connecting distributed low-energy devices, and access to the Thinx labs in Madrid and Barcelona, where they can deploy prototypes and conduct real-world testing.
Blockchain startups will gain access to Telefónica's TrustOS modules, a platform that enables companies to integrate the benefits of blockchain technology—such as immutability and user transparency—into their own products and offerings. The hybrid solution developed by Telefónica combines public and private networks.
In the areas of big data and artificial intelligence, startups will receive access to the LUCA suite. This is a platform developed internally by Telefónica that enables the automation of data processing and the integration of machine learning.
