Bavaria is looking for the energy startup of 2020

Following 2016 and 2018, the "Energy Startup Bavaria" competition is taking place for the third time this year. The competition is looking for young companies with new ideas, business models, and technologies for Bavaria's energy future. Prize money totaling €30,000 is up for grabs.

The competition focuses on the major trends of digitalization, security of supply, and hydrogen. However, all concepts that contribute to a "secure, affordable, and sustainable energy supply" are also welcome. The three best startups may officially call themselves "Energy Startup Bavaria." The first-place winner will also receive prize money of €15,000, second place €10,000, and third place €5,000. Networking with potential investors and partners from the energy industry is also on the agenda.

Register by August 10

Registration for the competition is open online until 10 August 2020 at www.energie-startup.bayern possible. There are a few restrictions to be observed: All participating companies must have been founded after January 1, 2016, and have a branch in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. Furthermore, the applicant must demonstrate a "strong connection to Bavaria."

The process of “Energy Startup 2020”

After the application phase, a jury will select the best applicants. They will have the opportunity to publicly present their ideas in the competition's semifinals on September 24, 2020, in Munich. The three best applicants, again selected by a jury, will then compete again on October 22, 2020, as part of the Bavarian Energy Prize at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. The winner will then be voted on by the audience and announced live at the awards ceremony.
