Why there will be B2B unicorns in the future
In our event review, we report on two events. First, there's the Startup-Creasphere Demo Day. The Munich-based healthcare accelerator expanded to Singapore and Silicon Valley in 2020. Therefore, it probably wasn't such a bad idea to host a virtual demo day for the eight startup pitches (minute 1:00). If you want to know why Johannes von Borries, Managing Partner of Unternehmertum Venture Capital Partners, proclaimed in the 'U-Talk of the UnternehmerTUM' that the next unicorns will come from the B2B sector, listen from minute 2:35. Learn more about the talk titled "The Next Unicorn Wave will be in B2B Tech" here.
In the podcast we also talk about selected results from the recently published Female Founders Monitor 2020We're taking a closer look at six female startup founders from Munich and the companies they founded. It's worth taking a closer look and listening. Startups with diverse teams are more successful – and mixed teams earn more money per euro invested.
Munich startup founders who have raised large amounts of funding…
So, who are the six Munich-based female startup founders we're introducing? First, we'll look at three startups that have already completed successful financing rounds. For example, the SaaS startup Demo desk (from minute 10:10) In addition to the successful seed round, the company recently completed another round of financing via LinkedIn – the exact figure has not yet been disclosed. Veronika Riederle, the founder, told us: in the interviewIn certain situations, being a woman can be an advantage in the B2B tech environment. At the same time, however, there are many challenges that affect female founders more than their male counterparts.
The next of the six Munich startup founders we are introducing is Mareike Wächter from Banovo (from minute 12:10). The approximately 6 million euro financed startup is, according to its own statements, the largest bathroom renovation company in Germany. In the round of VC-funded startups, we also talk about the mobility provider Cluno (from minute 14:15). Founded by Christina Polleti, her husband Nico Polleti, and Andreas Schuierer, the startup currently employs a team of 80 people.
… and female founders who are successful without million-dollar investments
Second, we look at three other Munich startup founders who have built successful companies without millions in financing. This was the case, for example, with Dagmar Schuller founded AI/machine learning startup Audeering profitable from the very beginning and now generates millions in revenue (from minute 16:05). Accurate – co-founded by Angelika Kneidl – like Audeering – is a spin-off of the TU and is successful in simulating people flows. Accurate is particularly impressive in times of Corona with an exciting new approach (from minute 19:50). Finally, we look at Zarah Bruhn, the founder of Social Bee.
Aside from the six startups presented, there are of course a number of other female startup founders in Munich (minute 26:10).
Mobility startups should take a closer look at this VC
In the second part of the podcast you will learn more about 2trde and its investor Maniv Mobility. We reveal who invested in the Israeli VC's fund and why this is exciting for the mobility sector here in Germany. Mobility startups, listen up at minute 27:40!
