EIT Urban Mobility: Xpreneurs seeks mobility startups for EU accelerator

Xpreneurs is running an accelerator program for the EU project EIT Urban Mobility to find solutions to the COVID crisis. The focus is on mobility startups. Applications are open until August 9.

The program with the somewhat cumbersome title 'EIT Urban Mobility Accelerator program SPECIAL: COVID-19' seeks solutions to urban mobility problems brought about by the Corona crisis, such as health risks in urban areas or the changing commuter flows due to increased home office work.

The EU organisation EIT runs the accelerator with the help of local partners. In Germany, the UnternehmerTUM Accelerator Xpreneurs the EIT special program.

EIT Urban Mobility offers contacts for pilot projects

Specifically, the program names five application areas for which solutions are sought:

  • Liveable urban spaces: social distancing, innovative disinfection options, healthy lifestyles, short-term changes in land use, street repurposing, and mental and physical health by design.
  • Closing knowledge gaps: Communicating knowledge and expertise to public and private providers, citizens and politicians.
  • Customer-oriented and integrated mobility services: Safe transport options, the expansion of mobility services, special mobility services for vulnerable and infrastructure-critical workers, the protection of city employees, and the maintenance of public transport.
  • Leveraging new market opportunities: spreading the circular economy, using new materials, data protection, and personalizing services in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Spreading effective strategies and behavioral changes: building economic and social resilience, supporting rapid government response, tracking and tracing, and community empowerment.

The three-month accelerator will be conducted both on-site and virtually. Participating teams will receive individual coaching and access to public administration to conduct pilot projects. Office space can also be used free of charge if needed. All participants can present their solutions at the UnternehmerTUM Demo Day on November 30.
