Insurtech Hub Munich wins SAP as new partner

New partner for the Insurtech Hub Munich (ITHM): The software company SAP has recently expanded the ITHM network, which already has over 20 members.

“SAP stands like no other company for pioneering, internationally leading tech solutions made in Germany – a great enrichment for our ecosystem,”

welcomed Christian Gnam, Acting Managing Director of ITHM, the partnership. And Thilo Liebermann, Head of Customer Advisory Service Industries SAP, is sure:

“We are well aware of the great potential that lies in collaborating with founders; after all, our company was an archetypal startup at the time.”

Founded in 1972 by five former IBM employees under the name 'System Analysis Program Development,' SAP today employs over 100,000 people worldwide. The publicly listed software company is still headquartered in Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg.

Are startup solutions also compatible with existing applications?

ITHM Managing Director Gnam explains how important support for startups in technical integration into insurers’ existing systems is:

"An essential part of our innovation programs are the business development sessions, in which the founders' business models are thoroughly tested. Representatives of our partner companies repeatedly ask the question: 'Is your solution compatible with the applications we use in-house?' Logically, the name SAP is often mentioned."

Accelerated digitalization of the insurance industry due to Corona

And Johannes Wagner, Board Member of ITHM and Head of Startup Cooperation at Versicherungskammer Bayern, says:

"The coronavirus crisis is acting as a powerful accelerator for digitalization in our industry. At the heart of everything is the user experience, the satisfaction of customers, who have changed their reluctance to use digital tools within just a few months and are increasingly demanding remote solutions. We are therefore delighted that SAP is adding an additional dimension to the formula for collaboration between startups and insurance companies, which has already been successfully tested at ITHM."
