Online appointment planner Timify: “We were clearly ahead of our time”

Timify offers companies an online solution for scheduling employee and customer appointments. Andreas Knürr, CEO and co-founder of Timify, answers our 7 questions.

Munich Startup: Who are you and what do you do? Please introduce yourselves briefly!

Andreas Knürr: Timify was founded by three people: Andreas Knürr, Boyan Tanchev, and Hristo Hristakiev, back in 2012. Boyan and I had already run an advertising agency together, Webmedia7, where Hristo served as Head of Development. Today, we serve over 55,000 customers in 28 countries from two locations.

Munich Startup: What problem does your startup solve?

Andreas Knürr: Timify is an online appointment scheduling and workforce resource management solution for small, medium, and large businesses. Timify bridges the gap between the offline and online worlds: Customers and employees can use the online appointment scheduling tool at any time – 24 hours a day, across multiple locations, and regardless of time zones or opening hours. This has become particularly important for many companies during the coronavirus crisis, and we have been able to help them optimize and digitize their systems. We have also made Timify available free of charge to systemically important companies.

Timify can double sales in 2020

Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!

Andreas Knürr: Yes, with usBut joking aside: our system can be easily implemented into any IT infrastructure while maintaining the highest security standards. This, along with the numerous analysis options, makes us unique. That's why corporations such as Fielmann, HVB, and Intersport have chosen us.

Munich Startup: What have been your three biggest challenges so far?

Andreas Knürr: We were clearly ahead of our time. Since the current rapid increase in digitalization, we've seen a significant increase in demand. In 2018, we also decided to set up a completely new background system that offered us entirely new technical possibilities. After a lot of hard work, we launched it in 2019. In the end, it paid off, and looking back, we consider it the best thing we could have done, as we were able to significantly increase our demand and double our revenue.

Munich Startup: How are things going?

Andreas Knürr: From 2019 to 2020, we doubled our revenue and increased daily bookings via Timify to 100,000, a threefold increase compared to the previous year.

Munich Startup: How do you rate Munich as a startup location?

Andreas Knürr: Munich offers us an environment where we can find well-trained and internationally experienced employees. This is very important for our international expansion. In addition to the Munich location, we have just opened a Company purchased in Bulgaria. E7 Studio has allowed us to further expand our access to technically skilled programmers.

Munich Startup: Risk or security?

Andreas Knürr: Munich offers us a very reliable and secure environment for planning. This is supported by our investors. They have always believed in us and supported us through every challenge.
