The Bavarian Innovation Award 2020 awards product and process innovations as well as technology-oriented services that were developed in Bavaria and launched on the market no more than four years ago.
Innovation Prize Bavaria 2020: Main prize for Munich
This year, a startup from the healthcare sector received the main prize. The Munich-based Healthtech Advitos took first place. The startup impressed with its solution for combined organ support. The patented medical devices can support three organs simultaneously – liver, lungs, and kidneys – and simultaneously regulate the pH balance of the blood. The 2020 Bavarian Innovation Award is not the first award for the Munich startup this year. Advitos had already received high EU funding receive.
Presize has also received a variety of awards. At the 2020 Bavarian Innovation Award, the Munich-based company scooped the special prize for startups. The jury of the Body scanner of the Munich startup.
The prize was presented by, among others, Bavaria’s State Secretary for Economic Affairs Roland Weigert awarded. He commented:
"Innovations are the drivers of our economy; they secure Bavaria's competitiveness for the future. Only with a successful and sustainable innovation culture will Bavaria remain so attractive as a business location. The participants of the 2020 Bavaria Innovation Award are also making a significant contribution to this."
There were a total of 189 applications for this year’s competition. Eberhard Sasse, President of the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BIHK), says:
“With their ingenious developments, not only startups but also many small and medium-sized companies underline the inventiveness of the Free State.”
The second main prize went to Promicron from Kaufbeuren. The company developed a 'sensory' spindle for an intelligent machine tool. The third main prize went to the Leonhard Kurz Foundation for an innovation in injection molding.
All companies with their headquarters or a branch in the Free State of Bavaria are eligible to apply for the award, regardless of industry or company size. In 2018, several Munich-based startups also impressed with the biennial Bavarian Innovation Award. The winners at that time were companies such as Tacterion, Audeering, Medineering and Roboception.
