Wellabe closes Series A with €3 million

The healthtech startup Wellabe – originally launched under the name Bodylabs – has closed its Series A financing round with €3 million. In addition to existing shareholders Earlybird, Paua Ventures, and Plug and Play, investors now include Sana Kliniken, Germany's third-largest private hospital operator.

The Munich-based startup has developed a mobile "laboratory" with which it offers health check-ups at the workplace and personalized, digital prevention programs. Wellabe's solution can Measure over 60 health values in less than 20 minutes and evaluate them. The results are then available to participants in real time via the Wellabe app, and they can discuss them with a doctor during a video consultation. The subsequent data-driven recommendations are tailored to the participants' specific needs. They receive a personalized prevention program on their smartphone.

With the fresh capital, Wellabe aims to attract additional users to its healthcare platform. In addition to digital preventive services, participants will also be able to access appropriate medical services in the future. Furthermore, cooperation with health insurance companies and private insurers will be further expanded.

How Wellabe and Sana clinics complement each other

founder Michael Theodossiou says about the new investment:

"We want to help people actively manage their health and lead the healthiest lives possible. With Sana Kliniken, we have a renowned and experienced partner at our side who shares this vision and enables us to expand our offerings and create new application scenarios. This allows us to make the first step toward personalized health management even easier and more engaging, guiding even more people to the right measures and interventions for a healthier life."

For Sana Kliniken, the collaboration represents a further step toward a digitalized, holistic patient journey. They have been offering preventive healthcare services through Sana Praevention since 2019.

"In our clinics, we have been caring for people with a wide variety of illnesses for decades. The preventive services offered by Wellabe and Sana start earlier and help prevent some of these illnesses,"

explained Thomas Lemke, CEO of Sana Kliniken. The cooperation with Wellabe offers a new opportunity to reach new target groups and digitally accompany people on their path to a healthier lifestyle.
