Freiraum Ventures: New VC of the SCE offers early-stage investments

The Munich startup scene is pleased to welcome a new venture capitalist: Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship (SCE) is launching its own investment fund, SCE Freiraum Ventures. This early-stage fund bridges the gap between training and financing teams.

SCE Freiraum Ventures targets very early-stage startups. The venture capitalist invests around €30,000 in business ideas from teams that have not yet founded a company. Around €50,000 is allocated to already founded companies with solid and scalable ideas. The focus is also on strong teams with complementary skills. Priority is given to university-affiliated startups and founding teams that require capital at an early stage to take the next steps. In its diverse qualification programs, the SCE offers a variety of support options for founders, so Klaus Sailer, Managing Director of SCE and partner at SCE Freiraum Ventures. By closely monitoring the teams, SCE gains valuable insights into their work and the different business models.

“In our own incubator, teams have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills for six months. They are supervised and supported by experienced coaches,”

explained Herbert Gillig, Head of Start-up Support at SCE and partner in the SCE’s early-stage VC.

SCE Freiraum Ventures provides capital in the early stages of startups

“With our early-stage fund SCE Freiraum Ventures, we want to give teams access to capital at an early stage where other investors would not yet invest,”

so David Photien, Investment manager of the SCE investment arm.

“We see an opportunity, especially at this early stage, to accelerate business models and promote growth through capital,”

supplemented Marcus Schlueter, Investment Manager at SCE Freiraum Ventures. The fund is also supported by Falk F. Strascheg, who has decades of experience as a venture capitalist. In addition to access to capital, the Entrepreneurship Center at Munich University of Applied Sciences accompanies the funded startups throughout their journey and offers a wide range of support.
