How are things going at Sono Motors? The Munich-based startup recently announced that it has now registered 13,000 private customer reservations for its Sion (Solar Electric Vehicle) with an average down payment of €3,000. Those reserving the Sion primarily live in Germany and the DACH region, but the company has also received an increasing number of reservations from countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, Finland, and Mauritius.
"13,000 reservations are a clear sign for us and the entire automotive industry. This number underscores people's need for resource-efficient and affordable mobility and gives us the impetus to get the Sion on the road as quickly as possible."

The need is there, only the product is still missing. Because while in the October 2020 While there was talk of a production start in 2022, Sono Motors is now planning to start production in 2023. Then, the company plans to produce 43,000 vehicles per year in two-shift operation together with contract manufacturer NEVS.
