The Munich companies Amsilk produces synthetic silk from plant-based raw materials through bacterial fermentation. The material is used in applications including sportswear and medical implants. The silk biopolymers are fully recyclable and biodegradable.

With the help of money from its old and new investors, Amsilk aims to produce its silk polymers more quickly in industrial quantities and make them available to a wider range of customers and industries.
