Unlock offers an online program that supports participating teams with needs-based coaching to develop their idea into a prototype within three months. The project teams receive needs-based coaching and are also networked with each other. The Unlock team supports the project teams throughout the entire implementation phase. Furthermore, participants are connected with experts and supporters from national and international networks of Wikimedia Germany networked. Participants can also receive financial support through a scholarship if needed.
For its second round, the accelerator has chosen a thematic focus: Under the motto "(Re)building trust in the digital age," it is seeking open-source solutions or projects under a free license that strengthen trust in information and technologies. The focus will be on solutions that create transparency, provide reliable and trustworthy information, or help people handle knowledge and information competently.

Teams of two to five people from across Europe who already have a concrete idea are welcome to apply. We are looking for people with an entrepreneurial mindset and a social entrepreneurial spirit. All project results developed during the program will be made publicly available under a free license. Acceptance of this condition is also a prerequisite for participation in the accelerator. From all submissions, a jury consisting of various Wikimedia employees and some of the coaches who support the program will select ten teams for the shortlist. From these, up to seven teams will be selected via online calls to participate in the Unlock Accelerator. Unlock starts in early July and ends in early October.
The accelerator program is divided into three four- or five-day sprints, which take place in July, August and September, and then culminate in a Demo Day on October 6, where participants present their prototypes.
